Extra blog post (Febuary)
I have never taken the time to introduce my mentor. His name is Paul Munoz a great positive person. He almost feels like a big brother, something I've never really felt since I am the oldest boy in the house. Fixing and modifying cars is one of the only few things he knows how to do. Hes also an engineer in medical equipment used for hospitals or laboratories (I am not sure of the real name of his title). He is also pretty savvy at fixing computers and anything that has electronic components. What he is holding on his hand is an Axel which he let me put in, it was not an easy task, but as usual we were able to manage.
Its been quite an experience working with my mentor, the components of a car have never been more interesting than ever. The cars engine is pretty much done, it runs but has a few problems with its sensors. Its also has a name believe it or not, "Raden". He still has a few things to add like paint and new interior paint but overall its is coming out well. As you can see it still has its first coat of primer. And my mentor is showing me the way to insert the axel, because there are rings that must stay in place but keep falling out every time you try and attempt to mount it on the side of the engine.

Blog 15
1. What I plan on doing with my independent component 2 is continue working with my mentors car. The last I heard from the progress was that he was finally able to get the engine to run, it leaks, but it runs. It is almost done it needs its final coats of primer and paint. Also it needs heat resistant pain in the interior. My sister is going to buy a Acura Tsk which means I can inherit her Accord, if we run out of things to do on my mentors car, he is willing to help me on mine!
2. I will show pictures and possibly a video( I think it will be fun to) I also want to talk about my mentor and were he comes from he's been great at what he does and I would like for people to know a little about him.
3.His car was in horrible condition the way it was and now that it is almost completely refurbished we can talk about the way we did it and the things we feel are the most important about refurbishing a vehicle. Also if we get to mine it will be preety fun.

(A) I Junior rico, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
(b) My mentor Paul Munoz has done great with giving him hands on experience, I feel comfortable working on his car because he does not mined when I make mistakes. Ive messed up a few times like ruined his caliber but he didn't mined, if it was another persons vehicle I would have felt awful.
(c) Yes, and it is located on the right side of my blog
(d) Its been a rough rode with my mentors car because we expected it to be done last year around November, it obvious that were behind schedule. A majority of the time was replacing the new engine he bought, it was interesting to see the transmission sitting on the left side of the engine. It was also tedious work when it came to pugging bag all the hoses and sensors back into the engine. We also did work on the paint job and breaks to.
INTERPRETIVE
I had no idea how much work it took when it comes to refurbishing a car. When he first got it I was excited to get my hands dirty and take it apart which we did for my summer mentor ship hours. For my independent component hours it took us a while to get the new engine, because of money issues. In order to not waste time, and my mentor wanted to keep me busy, we decided to give the car it primer. Sanding down the car's old paint then applying the cars first coat of primer. When this was done it was obvious that the car was going to look GOOD! We had no intentions of putting the final coats because we want to do that when the cars engine is all done, to prevent any scratching. When we got the engine finally form a company called "MoshiMoshi" we had the task of replacing the messed up engine with a new one. . . . .again. Half way threw the job my mentor noticed he needed more parts for the mortification he wants to achieve. The parts require a certain air pump with special tools needed for installation. I am not quite sure exactly what else he needs until I go see him again. So the engine is only half way done, until we get the parts and money to finish up what we started. As that was on hold I got to work on the breaks, which I did my first mistake in ruining his threads. It was not bad because the part was going to be replaced for a high performance one either way. Independent component ought to be exciting, Hopefully we can have that car running on its own, because when its done my mentor is going to teach me how to drive it; its a stick shift.
Applied:
This component helped me understand my topic by giving me precious experience on subject I have only read on my research check. For instance I have red a lot about a cars suspension and all it components it comprised of. I have not only worked on the shocks and spring but also the disk break and axels. Ive always new and read how a engine works but actually taking apart the engine and seeing all its components like, pistons, camshafts , and exhaust ports was amazing.
Replaced disk break, It is easy to tell were it is located because it is shiny unlike the rest of the cars suspension and break components.

This would be my mentor, we took out the old engine to drain its fluids.
When I had the chance to change the breaks, the break caliber is located on the right side of the picture.
